What’s With This Upgrade?

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 6:28 pm

I admit, I’ve been out of the software loop for a couple months while I focus on web development. It’s been Notepad ++, a PC, and some good tunes for the past two months. I cannot believe I didn’t see this CS5.5 version until now.

Adobe CS5.5. I thought it was a typo at first. Then I got excited, thinking it was an update and I hit “update later” one too many times. There had never been half versions before.

I investigated this further and wondered why it wasn’t called CS6. I mean, I pretty much would have to pay full price for this. All this revolutionary mobile and tablet features that are being introduced. It could potentially cost me double to upgrade to CS6. I am hoping the upgrade to CS6 is cheaper then.

Mysourcing Venture

Filed under: Time Efficiency — admin @ 6:20 pm

Organize and prioritize. Two things I have doing for as long as I can remember.  I like to think I do those two things well. However, working the traditional 9 to 5 schedule creates some difficulty contacting people who work that same business schedule. For example, I have been playing phone tag with my insurance company. They call me and leave a message. I call back and they are on the other line or in a meeting.  By the time I am done, they are out for the day and it is on to the same cycle the following day.

I came across a website for Virtual Assistants. This was an interesting concept. Pretty much all the important things can be taken care of remotely. Appointment scheduling, research, writing, returning phone calls, and many other tasks can be taken care of by someone locally or continents away. This could be the perfect solution for my daytime calling dilema. These people can be hired for a couple hours or full-time.

Having the entrepreneurial spirit, I am always looking for ways to use my time wisely to build something new. I read the book 168 Hours (www.my168hours.com). It changed the way I look at everyday activities and “chores”. I never would have thought to even consider having laundry sent out. Maybe I worry that it could be perceived as laziness or a luxury. This got me thinking about the precious resource, TIME. I am leaning how important it is to gain more time on a daily basis.

I think I may have found a solution: accepting that I may have to outsource some tasks. I have to say that I am fine doing so. I thought of chores that take the most time. Cleaning and laundry make the top of the list. Although I like my clothing washed to perfection, my goal isn’t to be a laundry master. Those are two parts of my life that could be outsourced, which would then give me a few extra hours a week to focus on gaining more web development skills and business ventures.

Instead of outsourcing, I think mysourcing is a more appropriate way to describe this new way of thinking. Mysourcing is choosing to outsource so you have time for to achieve goals in the desired amount of time. Time really is the most valuable resource there is. This could be time to spend with family and friends, on hobbies, new businesses, etc. What would you do with extra time?
